What has begun is Zach's travel hockey season...yeah, you knew it wouldn't be long until that started back up and dominated much of this blog again.

Zach has made the top Mite level team this year - Mite 1 - and is very excited for a challenging and fun season.  He has several players that came with him from his Mite 3 team from last year, several that were on Mite 2 and his spring league team, and a few new ones from within the Strongsville system and other newcomers as well.

Practices started yesterday morning and then the team had a brunch and parent meeting/team building exercise at our team managers' house.

We've already got the practice schedule for the rest of August and September, and I think about two-thirds of the way through September pre-season games start.

Here's hoping for a great and competitive travel hockey season!

Who didn't have one of these?  I didn't...but I remember playing the one my cousins had when I visited them.

Have had a hard time pinning down an exact date these things came about, so just guessing there in the title of this post.  Anybody know?  My son would love to know how old it may be.

You know what?  I'm fine with this. Sure I'd have loved for Scotty to go out (when he ever does...) with the Wings organization, but this opportunity for him to work with his son Stan Bowman, the AGM of the Blackhawks, will be nice for him.

Valtteri Filppula has been signed to a 5 year deal worth reportedly $15 million.  This will keep him in Detroit through the 2012-2013 season. Terms not disclosed yet. 

I'm going to assume that this is not a straight 3million/year thing, but some kind of graduated scale that will put less of a hit on the cap earlier on and more of a hit later on (banking on the cap increasing each year).

Glad to know we've got Fils taken care of!

Wanted to get that link posted #1 just to give their site just a little more visibility outside the area, and #2 to make anyone travelling along the US23/US35 routes through the Chillicothe area or doing any consulting around there a bit better informed of dining options.
